Sean Cunniff is a Research Director at TowerGroup covering important topics in Brokerage & Wealth Management and Insurance. His research focuses on business and technology issues facing firms that serve retail clients in the areas of financial advice and planning, managed accounts, product development and distribution, and retirement products and services.

Sean has more than 16 years of financial services experience in product management, sales, and client service roles in wealth management and insurance. He joins TowerGroup from AARP Financial, where he was Director of Distribution and Investments. In his 10 years of product management, Sean contributed to the development and implementation of a number of advisory, wealth management, and retirement products and knows well the opportunities and challenges that financial services technology presents. Prior to AARP Financial, Sean held positions at leading investment and insurance companies such as JPMorgan Asset Management, John Hancock Financial Services, and Fidelity Investments.

Sean received a law degree from Suffolk University Law School and a bachelor’s degree in history from Boston College. He received a Certificate in Advanced Financial Planning from Merrimack College and is a Certified Financial Planner. Sean also held FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses and is a licensed attorney in Massachusetts.
